Unpaid Wages/Unpaid Overtime

When an employer withholds wages, specifically overtime wages, they may be doing so unknowingly (which is still inexcusable, as employers are required to know the laws regarding overtime pay) or they may be intentionally trying to keep more money in their own pockets.. Whether it’s by giving you a phony “management” title so that you’re exempted from overtime pay, by asking you to work “off-the-clock” or during unpaid lunch breaks, or even simply denying the wages you’ve earned, it is illegal. When you work in a non-exempt profession and work longer than a standard 8 hours a day, and 40 hours a week, you are entitled to overtime pay! (California law also states that if you exceed 12 hours of work in a single day, or 8 hours a day for more than 6 consecutive workdays, you are entitled to double time pay!)
